Kallis, the stand-in captain,left the field during the final session of Australia’s second inningsand the leadership duties were taken over by the wicketkeeper MarkBoucher.Kallis had a heavy workload during the game, in which he scored acentury and bowled 20 overs in addition to his captaincy role. Thestrain to his right groin will have extra time to heal as Kallis isnot part of the squad for the two Twenty20 internationals to be playedover the coming week.”Hopefully I’ll be all right,” Kallis said. “I’ve got a scan tomorrowmorning, hopefully it’s not too serious. I’ve got a couple of days offnow. I’m not in the Twenty20 squad so I’ve got two weeks before thefirst one-day game. Hopefully I’ll be ready for that.”The ODI series begins in Durban on April 3. Kallis’ team-mates nowhead to Johannesburg for the first Twenty20 international, which isscheduled for Friday.
